Yaroslavl plane crash: Thursday’s news updates

– The farewell ceremony for the deceased Lokomotiv players and staff is scheduled for Saturday morning, most likely 11 a.m., at Arena-2000 in Yaroslavl, R-Sport news agency reported citing Yury Nagornykh, Russian deputy minister of sports, tourism, and youth policy.

– The opening match of the KHL season between Salavat Yulaev and Atlant will be replayed on on Monday, September 12, at 17.00 MSK at Ufa Arena.

– One of the two survivors, player Alexander Galimov, is still alive at Vishnevski Institute, Moscow, his state is grave but stable. Despite being in traumatic shock and under artificial pulmonary ventilation, he is concious and able to speak and did talk to his father who visited him at the clinic, according to RIA Novosti. Still, his prospects are very poor due to 90% burns to the body, most of them deep, as well as burns of breathing organs and renal problems.

The second survivor, crew member Alexander Sizov is in much better state, though he also has very serious injuries: multiple broken ribs, penetrating wound of the head with brain damage, and 15% burns to the body.

– The bodies of all the three Czech players have been identified. Karel Rachunek’s body is identified with 100% accuracy, the bodies of Jan Marek and Josef Vasicek – with 90% accuracy, reported Mlada Fronta Dnes quoting Tibor Opela, head of the press office of the Czech embassy in Russia. The latter two bodies will undergo additional identification procedures.

– Alexey Yashin, Denis Grebeshkov, and Alexander Korolyuk are among the players who have expressed their willingness to help Lokomotiv Yaroslavl and join the new team.
