Roman Shirokov: Semak and Dzyuba deserve international call-up

Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder Roman Shirokov gave his views on the national team squad and possible candidates for the Euro-2012 call-up.

«Does Sergey Semak’s longevity astound you? Your teammate is 36 years old!»

«Personally, I am not surprised at all. I see him train day to day, sometimes it shows more on the pitch, sometimes less, but today he is as good as 10 years ago, physically and mentally. He hasn’t lost any of his ability!»

«You started at CSKA when he was there, did he work just as hard then?»

«I’ve never seen him give less than everything he’s got in training, actually.»

«Who do you think deserves a call up to the national side this year?»

«Dzyuba is looking sharp at the moment. Semak, who we mentioned above, Dynamo’s Kokorin – but he is already in the squad. Bystrov is now back after his knee finally healed, he will be fit and ready soon,» the Russian international told Sport-Express.
