Cleber: After our first win Terek owner Kadyrov rewarded me stacks of euros and dollars

Former Terek Grozny defender Cleber Guedes de Lima in an interview to Przeglad Sportowy recollected some of his experiences of playing football in the Chechen club.

«Everyone knows you have to be careful in Grozny. That is why I tried not to leave the house without my bodyguard, who was a local lad. The other thing is to behave the right way. You mustn’t come across as arrogant, they won’t accept you then,» the Brazilian explained.

«I scored in our first game. It was a big match with local rivals Spartak Nalchik. After the final whistle our president Ramzan Kadyrov came into the dressing room and gave me keys to a Landover. But one of my club mates recommended I take the money, so I told Kadyrov. He took the keys and left, only to come back with two stacks of cash – one had $60000 and the other – €60000. I took the money and hid it in the hotel where I lived,» the Wisla Krakow man continued.

«Those were the golden days. Every player could count on about $10000 after a victory and sometimes, if it was an important game, you could get twice as much,» Cleber concluded.
