Alexander Hleb: I had an offer from the MLS, but wanted to play at a higher level

Krylya Sovetov newcomer Alexander Hleb admitted he had other offers, including one from the USA, but decided to move to the Russian Premier League.

«Krylya’s managers made me a concrete offer and we came to an understanding fairly quickly. I sensed I was needed at the club,» the former Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder told Sovetsky sport.

«There was the US option. Maybe in terms of living standards America would have been more comfortable for me, but I decided to choose Russia because of the higher standard of football played here. The RPL is on the rise – a lot of competitive teams, success in Europe. It was the most challenging option for me.» the Belarusian stated.
