Vitaly Kolesnik: I once bet «Sugar Ray» Emery $500 that he couldn’t eat a roach, and he did!
Salavat Yulaev Kazakh goaltender Vitaly Kolesnik in an interview to Sportbox.ru recalled an amusing anecdote about his Chicago Blackhawks counterpart Ray Emery, with whom they used to be teammates in Atlant.
«Do you not agree that you shined brighter at Atlant than here in Ufa?»
«I do. I guess there was more trust in me at my previous club.»
«In those days your rivals for the position in goal were Konstantin Barulin and Ray Emery, and the latter is well know for his wild temperament…»
«Well, he wasn’t that scary at all. He is actually a really nice guy, very jolly. Once we were in the US and I bet 500 bucks that he couldn’t eat a cockroach. But he did! Although he really loves animals, he’s even got a boa snake in his home.»
