Pogrebnyak sidelined for weeks with ankle injury

Stuttgart forward Pavel Pogrebnyak will be sidelined for about a month because of an injury suffered during Friday’s training. The examination showed a double rupture of ligaments and a sprain in his right ankle, according to the official site of the German club.

Still, the forward himself believes his recovery may take less time than expected.

«On Thursday we were practicing out tactical schemes during the training. After a cross from the flank, Niedermayer and I were both trying to win the ball, I landed awkwardly, and ended up with a sprained ankle. That meant the training session was over for me. It hurt a lot, I couldn’t walk. But I feel better today. I don’t think that the recovery will take too long.»

«On Thursday evening they examined me, made some X-rays. The situation isn’t very nice, but there is a feeling I won’t spend more than a week. Today I can step on my foot as usual, I don’t need a stick, let alone the crutches. I believe, a lot will depend on how my body will act,» Pogrebnyak said as quoted by Sport-Express.
