Anzhi general director explains appointment of Gordeyev and Roberto Carlos

Anzhi Makhachkala general director German Chistyakov explained, why the club had dismissed their head coach Gadzhi Gadzhiev and stated that the management counts on the coaching tandem of Andrey Gordeyev and Roberto Carlos for the nearest future.

«After a lot of thinking and discussions within the club we decided to dismiss Gadzhi Gadzhiev from his position. We are really grateful to Gadzhi Muslimovich for his work, especially this season. Gadzhiev has done very much for the club’s progress and for football in general, not only in Dagestan, but in whole Russia.»

«What made you opt for Gordeyev and Roberto Carlos as the team’s coaches?»

«Yes, we made a decision that Andrey Gordeyev and Roberto Carlos will be in charge of the team. Andrey Gordeyev will act as head coach – he is an experienced man who had already worked as head coach [at Saturn Ramenskoe and Metallurg Donetsk – Sports.ru], and we believe he can help the team during these difficult times. You shouldn’t also forget that the appointment of Andrey Lvovich will maintain continuity in our team’s coaching methods.

«Roberto Carlos will be helping him. This is also a well-considered move rather than a spontaneous one. Roberto is the leader of the team, he became the real mediator of the coaches’ ideas on and off the field since his first game for Anzhi. He has a huge authority within the team and it makes our coaching staff stronger.
