Olga Vilukhina: I got to know about Neuner’s penalty laps just before the awards ceremony

Olga Vilukhina has told about her competition with Magdalena Neuner in Oberhof.

«I was aiming at a top-three finish. Sure, I heard how the crowd reacted to Neuner’s misses, but I thought there were no more than her standard two errors. Only after the finish, just before the awards ceremony, I got to know that Neuner had whole four penalty laps.

«We were competing head-to-head with Magdalena from the start. I tried to keep up with her. After prone shooting I understood that she was gaining speed. Maybe that was her tactics and she wanted to exhaust me so that I would be out of breath by the second shooting. But it turned out to be quite the opposite,» Vilukhina said as quoted by Sport-Express.
