Diniyar Bilyaletdinov: The Russian league cannot compare to the English Premier League

Spartak Moscow midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov responded to the comparison of the Russian and English Premier Leagues.

«What has changed in the Russian championship since you left Lokomotiv for Everton?»

«Such projects as the one we see in Makhachkala give the league a fresh new look. Then again, you shouldn’t forget that I arrived at the latter stages of the tournament, each game draws a lot of interest and attention. So it looks like the league took a step forward.»

«How would you compare it to the Premiership?»

«You know, the English league is on a different level altogether. Everything from how the matches are televised to the quality of the playing surfaces and the stadiums gives British football its unique charm an makes it so exciting to watch. But if we move in the right direction, the RPL can one day become as successful. Not at the moment though, but with time.»

«Do you regret leaving Everton?»

«Absolutely not.»

«Do you think returning to Russia elevates your chances of making the Euro squad?»

«It’s not up to me, only the head coach can decide,» the former Everton midfielder told Sports Daily.
