Lokomotiv claim banana was thrown at Samba by Anzhi fan

A Lokomotiv Moscow representative told Sports.ru reporter Denis Novoselov that they have video footage confirming that the banana, which hit Anzhi defender Christopher Samba during the two sides’ clash in the Russian championship on Sunday, was thrown by a fan from Makhachkala.

«Our security team conducted a thorough investigation, the results of which indicate our fans were not the guilty party. According to the video footage which we obtained from one of the CCTV cams around the stadium, the perpetrator spent most of the match on the 12th (guest) stand of the arena, before moving to the VIP section in the last 15 minutes of the game,» Novoselov said.

«You need special permission to enter the VIP box, or by having a ticket in advance. We know what the perpetrator looks like, what he was wearing. We will send the recordings to the Russian FA and the Premier League authorities. After that we will reveal the photo and video footage to the public,» the head of PR at Lokomotiv added.
