Vasily Berezutsky: CSKA lost the winning mentality

CSKA Moscow stopper Vasily Berezutsky commented on his side’s poor showing in the RPL since the turn of the year.

«We stopped winning. Sadly, we lost the winning mentality that was our outstanding feature through the years. But, despite all the problems, we are still second, we got to the playoff stage in the Champions League, so don’t bury us just yet – we can still finish in the Champions League zone this season,» the Russia international defender stated.

«A lot of the club veterans are very concerned about the team’s lack of progress, but there are also those, who are satisfied with draws against inferior sides. We talk to each other and try to figure out the root of the problem, though sometimes it’s hard to speak tête-à-tête with the foreign players because of the language barrier. Still, the atmosphere in the team is great and we aim to qualify for the next season’s Champions League, that’s our target for the season,» Berezutsky, whose twin brother Alexey also plays for the Red Army, told Sport-Express.
