Jonathan Legear: Kadyrov often gives players triple bonuses

Terek Grozny and Belgian national team midfielder Jonathan Legear shared his impressions of his first days in Grozny club.

«Do you still live in a hotel?»

«No, already not. You should see my house – it’s 550 square meters. There are six bedrooms, a huge kitchen, a sauna, a jacuzzi, a big garden for my dog. All that is surrounded by a fence with an electric gate. In general, it’s like a Hollywood villa. Terek president Kadyrov used to lived here once, but now he doesn’t need this house.»

«Have you already met Kadyrov?»

«Not yet. But, obviously, he wants me to play for Terek. I guess we’ll meet soon.»

«It looks like he cares a lot about his players.»

«It’s not the word for it! For 24 hours a day I have my own driver who earns just €600 for month. If I’m going somewhere with my girlfriend they give me a jeep.

«In general, Kadyrov pampers us. My teammates tell me that he would often come to the locker room after a game and give triple bonuses. Or present the best player an envelope with $75000. He also gives us elite watches and even cars.»

«Is it dangerous now in Chechnya?»

«The others Terek players say that it isn’t anymore. Kadyrov does everything to keep his players out of any problems. The training ground, for example, is protected by the police. It can be dangerous 50km out of Grozny and beyond. But, fortunately, we’ll never get there.

«For example, I live in Kislovodsk, it’s a health resort 250km from Grozny. There are many hotels and hospitals here, lots of rich Russians go here to take treatment and to have a rest.

«As for the treatment and food in Terek – everything in on the professional level here. We have our own physicians, including physiotherapists and cardiologists. From 9 to 10 a.m. everybody has to have a breakfast and if anybody wants to he can have dinner and supper here.»

«Which language do you use tot talk to people?»

«There are two Cameroonians here who speak French. The other two – a Czech and a Pole – speak English. But I have a translator because everybody else speaks a little bit of Russian, which I also have already started to learn.»

«So fast?»

«I know a few words in Russian – ‘hello’, ‘bye’. I can count to five. But my girlfriend learns Russian which is an advantage for me,» Legear said as quoted by Het Nieuwsblad.
