Vitaly Petrov: It’s too early for me to switch to Ferrari

The transfer of Ferrari’s reserve driver Jules Bianchi to Force India has given rise to speculations in the media about his possible replacement in Scuderia. Most observers expect GP2 driver Davide Rigon to fill the vacant role of the team’s third driver.

Yet according to GMM, citing Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat, the main candidates for the reserve position are Vitaly Petrov and Adrian Sutil, both of whom are currently out of contract.

However, the Russian driver played down rumours of his move to the Italian team.

«If you want to join Ferrari, you don’t want to go there just for a year. I am not going to say whether we discussed this option or not, but I think that it is too early for me to join them. Perhaps, in two or three years the time will be ripe for this move,» said the former Lotus-Renault driver.
