2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup To Be Held in South Korea

Южная Корея выиграла право проведения молодежного ЧМ по футболу (не старше 20 лет) в 2017 г.
Korea was chosen by the Fifa Executive Committee in a meeting in Brazil to be the hosts of the biggest youth football competition in the world.
South Korea beat out 11 other nations to host the 2017 U20 World Cup, their first major Fifa tournament since the 2007 Fifa U17 World Cup. Azerbaijan, Bahrain, France, Korea Republic, Mexico, Poland, Republic of Ireland, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Tunisia, and Ukraine had submitted a bid to host the tournament, while England withdrew.
“We are very satisfied and happy by winning the hosting rights of this competition as after the 2002 FIFA World Cup, we were not able to bring in big FIFA tournament in Korea Republic,” Korea Football Association (KFA) President Chung Mong-gyu told the-AFC.com.
“We were working on the preparation to get this tournament hosting rights from the very beginning and now we are happy that the decision came our way.
“Previously, we co-hosted the 2002 FIFA World Cup with Japan and now we are ready to host the second biggest FIFA competition alone and this means a lot to us. We will do our best to host it successfully.”
Korea will also have the distinction of being only the third nation to have hosted all four of Fifa's men's international competitions. The 2002 World Cup was co-hosted with Japan, while the 2001 Confederations Cup was held in Korea as well. Japan and Mexico are the two other nations to have accomplished the feat. Turkey will host the 2013 edition while the 2015 edition will be in New Zealand.
