Alexander Medvedev: Season starts on Tuesday, 18 clubs will give players to Lokomotiv

Alexander Medvedev, president of the KHL, said that the Kontinental Hockey League season 2011-12 will resume on Tuesday, September 13. He also revealed that 18 out of the 23 clubs agreed to provide Lokomotiv with 2 or 3 players each.

«The start of the season will most likely take place on Tuesday, September 13. The matches scheduled for Monday, September 12, will be played the next day. All matches scheduled for September 8, 9, 10, and 11, that is, including Sunday, were cancelled. These games will be played during the break in the tournament.

«Eighteen KHL clubs supported the idea to send 2 or 3 of their players to form a new team in Yaroslavl. Thus, the new head coach of Lokomotiv will have a list of 40-45 players and will be able to choose the right team. In addition to that, Lokomotiv’s roster will feature five young hockey players from the youth team. The Yaroslavl club will be revived,» Medvedev said as quoted by official website of Atlant Mytischchi.
