Valery Karpin: Our midfielders didn’t want to defend – that was the problem

Spartak Moscow coach Valery Karpin criticised his side’s midfield after their 2-1 defeat in a crucial Russian Premier League fixture against rivals CSKA.

«The game was even, but we let a goal in during their counter. We continued well until their second goal, and our subs didn’t change the dynamics of the game as we’d hoped. The midfielders failed to help out in defence – that was a problem,» said the Spartak boss, speaking to Sports.ru reporter Denis Romantsov.
