Интервью Хюбер

Did you manage to relax and enjoy some time off?

"I never quite relax, but yes, it′s been nice just zoning out of tennis for the month of November! I haven′t hit a ball since the Championships..."

What is your daily regimen in the off-season?

"Towards the end of the season I was not in my best fitness shape, getting injured and not quick on the court. That′s why I decided to jump right into my fitness program. We are focusing mostly on core, back and upper body. The workouts are brutal, but it′s worth it because I am feeling stronger already."

What activities, aside from tennis, have you been doing?

"I have been spending quite a bit of time on court, but in a different capacity. I have been helping the kids at Huber Tennis Ranch. I have also mountain biked some and would like to swim more. I also chase my dogs around. Tennis practice started on Monday, November 28. I was looking forward to that!"

Are you working with the same fitness team this year?

"Yes, I love (and hate) Jodie :-) I dread the workouts, but very proud of myself when I make it through it and also when I see my improvement. Jodie pushes me until exhaustion! She put together an all around program, from fitness, to eating, to stretching, to sleeping. I also have treatment on a regular basis to make sure that the injuries I dealt with last year are not an issue anymore."

Why is pre-season training so important for a tennis player?

"In my opinion, a good pre-season dictates your season. The players who do well in Australia are the ones who trained really hard in the off-season. That then leads into having confidence that leads to more success. We have to rest some, work mostly on fitness. This is also the time to change anything mechanical. During the year it is tough to change a stroke, now is the time."

What are you most looking forward to about the 2012 season?

"I look forward to being strong and injury free. I also look forward to the heat in Australia. I love it! I look forward to starting the year off with my doubles partner, Lisa! I am so excited for 2012!"
