Beauty hymn of the tiger tennis star Maria Sharapova
Решил выложить оригинал интервью Марии, потому что наверно редко читали индийские интервью Марии. Мария очень известна в Индии.

Indian duo Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi reached the finals of the men′s tennis doubles in the recent Aussie Open — have you met them on the circuit? What do you think of their game?
I unfortunately haven’t had much time to view other players’ games in Australia but I heard their game was spectacular and fun to watch. Most importantly, their story about reuniting after 10 years and be at the top like this is really inspiring.
You are beautiful, and young and already endorsing big brands. Any future plans of acting, or modelling seriously?
I do not know yet what I will be doing when I am done playing tennis, I have not even asked myself this question because tennis is and remains my priority number one and I am only 23: my tennis career is ahead of me.
Have you ever been to India? Any plans to visit in the near future?
I have never been to India before unfortunately, but I really hope I can get there someday. I have heard beautiful things about the spirituality, the lights and colours, the heritage of your country.
Is there any Indian celebrity you are familiar with, like SRK who’s a fellow Tag Heuer ambassador?
Shah Rukh Khan is someone I really admire. He is also a Tag Heuer ambassador and I believe we share the same values with the brand of never giving up, always re-inventing ourselves. I have never had the honour of meeting him as we both have very tight schedules. I hope one day I will get to meet him in person and his wife (Gauri Khan) too. I heard she has a fabulous sense of style.
Have you ever worn an Indian sari? Would you like to?
I find saris extremely elegant and feminine. I love the bright colors they have, the silky touch, and the overall wrapping idea. I have not had the chance of wearing one and would not even know the technique of wrapping. But if I get to meet Shah Rukh Khan’s wife one day, I will definitely get advised on wearing the most beautiful one.
You lost out in the fourth round of the recent Aussie Open. How affected are you by this loss?
This is just another loss. Tennis is made of losses and wins and even if I am disappointed of course, I have to stand up again and continue fighting, get ready for the next match. That’s who I am. I would never have achieved anything in my tennis life had I let myself get too affected by losses.
What do you do to unwind, when you′re not playing?
I spend time with my friends and family, I read a good book, have a cup of tea. When I travel, I sketch a lot too. I always carry a little sketch book with me.
Have you watched any Bollywood movie/Indian film?
I am usually able to catch Bollywood movies when I am on a plane. I love the colours, the romance of them but I am really bad at remembering Indian names for movies! Sorry! One movie I am looking forward to see is Shah Rukh Khan’s My Name Is Khan. I heard it is fantastic.
Do you actively use social networking sites — Twitter, Facebook/any other that most nowadays are hooked onto?
I am lucky I have a great team of people that help me handle all this technology and I can only concentrate on “feeding” my web site (www.mariasharapova.com). They make sure that the information I share there is relayed on Twitter / Facebook to the fantastic community of fans I have around the world. I am so grateful these fans are there for me always, whether I win or loose.
As a youth icon, your message to youth or to young sportspersons is...?
Follow your dreams and work really hard to achieve them. Never believe things are going to come to you without hard work.
