Avangard Omsk will not renew contract with Summanen
KHL’s Avangard Omsk have confirmed the Raimo Summanen’s resignation from the head coach position.
«According to the agreements reached between the management of the hockey club and Raimo Summanen, it was decided not to renew the contract with the Finnish coach, which expires on April 30», reads the statement on Avangard official website.
In fact, Summanen was discharged from work with the team already on March 21, just before the seventh game of semi-final stage of the KHL Eastern Conference with Metallurg Magnitogorsk. However, but there was now official confirmation of the fact that the contract won’t be renewed.
Summanen took charge of Avagard in March 2010. Under him the team managed to take the first place in the KHL regular championship in the 2010-11 season, but the management of the club decided to discharge him even before the end of the KHL’s play-offs pleading his health problems.
