JR, Jordans, haircuts

JR Holden

JR is like a brother to me. My first couple of years in Europe I played in Latvia and some of my teammates kept saying that I had a similar style of play as this guy who plays for CSKA. And I didn't know who they were talking about, so finally I watched them play and I seen some similarities in our game. After that it was good to see someone with a similar style be successful because it keeps me working harder on my game. So my first year in Euroleague I played in France at Pau Orthez and we played CSKA. I was amazed with his defense. When I was playing in France I was able to play free so I controlled the ball most of the time and in the game I would try moves on him and he would stay in front of me, nobody was able to stay in front of me like that. After the game he told me «man, keep doing what you doing, good thing will happen» because he respected my style too. So when I came to Moscow and played for Dynamo coincidentally I found out we stayed in the same apartment complex. From there on we built a good friendship because we both respected each other on the court and it carried off the court. I was new to Moscow so anything I needed he would go out his way to make sure he helped with it. He always gives me support and helps me maintain. And vice versa I give him support also. So now he likes a brother to me. But of course when we play each other both of us is trying to win. But unfortunately I haven't beaten him yet... Damn. So JR if you're reading this I'm still coming for you... haha.

Hobbies

I got some interesting hobbies. My biggest hobby is collecting shoes (Jordan's). At home I have maybe 30-40 pair of Jordan's and a lot of them I don't wear because in the future they are going to be worth so much money. And being from Dallas, when I was young that's all I wanted on my feet. Have a little story for you: Right now when a pair of Jordan's come out, the shoe stores in Dallas will open at 7am so whoever is there first will get a pair. But the crazy thing is that if you really want a pair, you will have to be at the store as early as 5am because the line will be so long waiting for the store to open up... no joke. It's so serious about some Jordan's, that you have criminals hiding somewhere outside sometimes. They will wait for people to walk out the mall and hit them over the head or beat them up for them shoes they just bought. It's crazy but a true story. Most of the time I ordered mine online the day they come out because if I don't get online fast enough all will be sold out. So now when they come out while I'm in Russia, I wake up at 7am to make sure I get me and my son a pair. My son has a lot of Jordan's too. Erica is starting to collect the women Jordan's but only if it has the color pink somewhere on the shoe. I also collect air max's. There are the two main brands I like but if I see anything that fits my style I will buy them also. I just like shoes, mostly old-school shoes...

Another big hobby I have is cutting hair. When I was younger I always had some barber clippers. And when I would go to the barber shop I would feel comfortable. Well I don't know about shops here but in the States the barber shops are interesting. For example, black people barber shops are interesting, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Those two days for sure because everyone wants a nice haircut for the weekend. Barber shops are places where you talk about sports, news, anything that’s going on the neighborhood and of course get a hair cut. I always found that interesting, so when I used to go I was learning how they were doing different styles (only men haircuts) with hair. I used to go home and practice on myself and sometime I will not do a good job and have to go to school looking funny... haha. But that’s how I learned. So once I finish my career in basketball I'm going to open my own shop and star cutting hair. Most people don't know that some barbers make good money especially if you have many clients.
