Lokomotiv flew to Minsk because of Yaroslavl Global Policy Forum

Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey team, whose plane crashed this afternoon near the local airport of Tunoshna on their flight to Minsk, should have stayed at home if it wasn’t for a major political forum to be held in Yaroslavl these days.

Lokomotiv’s first match of the new KHL season against Dynamo Minsk was initially scheduled in Yaroslavl. However, the game was moved to Minsk for security reasons, so that the match would not interfere with the Yaroslavl Global Policy Forum, held on September 7 and 8 under the President Dmitry Medvedev’s auspices.
