Arshavin and Shirokov on target as Russia see off sorry Denmark

Zenit St. Petersburg duo Andrey Arshavin and Roman Shirokov found the net in the first half to earn a comfortable 2-0 win for the Russian national team in a friendly match against Denmark.

Shirokov opened the scoring on the fourth minute with a precise low strike after shielding the ball from the Danish defenders.

A minute before the half-time whistle Andrey Arshavin, currently on loan at Zenit from Arsenal, hit the ball right down the middle of the goal, but veteran goalkeeper Sorensen somehow failed to block the shot.

It was Arshavin’s first goal for the national team since October 2009.
