Metallurg Magnitogorsk appoint Fyodor Kanareykin as head coach

KHL’s Metallurg Magnitogorsk appointed Fyodor Kanareykin as their new head coach after yesterday’s dismissal of Alexander Barkov.

Under Barkov the team suffered six defeats in 10 matches of the KHL regular championship. At the moment, Metallurg are 9th in the Eastern Conference with 12 points.

Kanareykin will be assisted by Vladimir Semenov and Sergey Gomolyako, according to the club’s official website. He is most known for his work with Atlant Mytishchi, and this spring he was one of the candidates for the head coach position at SKA St. Petersburg.
