Pontus Wernboom: I have been receiving bookings through my whole career – it’s my job!

CSKA Moscow anchorman Pontus Wernbloom responded to the criticism that his style of play is too rough and his tackling sometimes crosses the limit.

«Why do people see me as a dirty footballer? Don’t they know that I am a defensive midfielder and that it is my job to tackle? I get booked for tactical fouls. Our defenders go up to help in a set piece, I am left on my own and of course I have to foul to give my team-mates time to come back,» the Swede explained.

«Another criticism that has been aimed at you lately is that you talk back to the referees too much. Would you agree?»

«Well, just recently during our match with Dynamo I explained to the ref that I didn’t deserve to get booked in that episode,» Wernbloom told Sport-Express
