Russia in 2nd pot for Euro 2012 group stage draw

Russia national team will be drawn in the second pot for the Euro 2012 group stage draw. This became a fact after the qualification play-offs second leg, after Croatia drew with Turkey (0-0). Thus, the Croatians failed to displace Russia from the 6th place in the FIFA ranking – they will remain 7th and will be seeded in the third pot.

This means Russia won’t have to play in the same group with Germany, Italy, or England, who are also seeded in the second pot.

The group stage draw for Euro 2012 will take place on December 2 in Kiev.
