NEW YORK, NY, USA - With an eye towards showcasing the younger stars of the WTA, the WTA Rising Stars Invitational will take place for a second year during the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global at the end of the season.
The Invitational event consists of four players - two from the Asia Pacific region and two players from the Rest of the World - determined by fan-voting on ... Читать дальше the web and via social media. The round robin event begins on Thursday, October 22nd through Saturday, October 24th. The final will be played on Sunday, October 25th in Singapore Indoor Stadium. All matches will be streamed on WTAFinals.com
For players qualifying from the Rest of the World, the player must be aged 23 or under at the WTA Finals and either ranked inside the Top 150 on the 1st Monday of the #US Open or have reached a Premier or International semifinal.
For players qualifying from the Asia-Pacific, the player must be aged 23 or under at the WTA Finals and either ranked inside the Top 200 on the 1st Monday of the US Open or have won a match in the main draw of a Premier or International tournament, or were a finalist in a WTA 125K Series event.
In addition to the basic qualifying criteria, players who opt to make themselves available for the Invitational event may not enter Moscow or Luxembourg, both of which take place the week before the WTA Finals.
With that criteria in place, the following players have qualified for the open voting:
