Bayern fans display anti-Gazprom banner in stands during Bundesliga game

Bayern Munich fans held up a banner that read «No Gazprom!» during their Bundesliga game against Wolfsburg (2:0) in protest of the possible takeover of the German club by the Russian gas giant.

There were conflicting reports in the press earlier about the potential deal between the Bundesliga leaders and the Russian company. Gazprom denied rumours about the possible sponsorship deal, but later Bavaria’s president Uli Hoeness admitted that negotiations are underway for a deal that could see Schalke’s chief sponsor financing both German clubs.
