Pavel Pogrebnyak: It would have been a surprise, if Arshavin chose Anzhi ahead of Zenit

Fulham striker Pavel Pogrebnyak in an interview to Sportsdaily.ru commented on Andrey Arshavin’s loan move to Zenit St. Petersburg from Arsenal.

«I was disappointed that first Pavlyuchenko, and then Arshavin left England. It would have been more fun here with them around,» the Russia international admitted.

«I would have been surprised if Andrey chose Anzhi ahead of his home club Zenit. He grew up there, went to Zenit’s academy, so if he was going back to Russia, Zenit seemed a natural choice. I think the loan will do him good, and afterwards he can return to play in England, or perhaps in another league,» the former Stuttgart striker added.
