Ireneusz Jelen doubtful over Zenit transfer in summer

Polish striker Ireneusz Jelen has announced he will leave Ligue 1 side Auxerre, currently third from bottom of the table, at the end of the season. Jelen’s contract expires in June, and Zenit St. Petersburg or Olympiacos are believed to be interested in signing him.

In an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza quoted in L’Equipe, Jelen said: «I will help Auxerre keep its place in Ligue 1, but afterwards I will go to a bigger club. I will not prolong my contract.»

Commenting on the rumors about Jelen’s possible move to Russia or Greece, his agent Tomasz Kaczmarczyk added: «Everything is possible, but Ireneusz would prefer a club from Western Europe. I will provide him a few offers in May, and he will choose the best one.»
