Alexander Ovechkin: Now we have to go out and take some other medals

Washington Capitals and Russian national team forward Alexander Ovechkin has summed up his experience from the semifinal match of the WC 2011 against Finland (0:3) and has spoken on the probable reasons of his goalscoring draught.

«We just didn’t use the moments we’ve had. We’ve created enough of them. And the first Finnish goal – I think it’s one of the best I’ve ever seen. Skill and luck – it was all lumped together. No chance for the goalkeeper. Luck wasn’t on our side tonight.»

«Still I did not understand some of the penalties. But they were given. It seems like everything is all right, you may play – and suddenly you hear the whistle. I’ve spent six minutes on the bench. Maybe it was an error. Maybe not.»

«I’m trying very hard. But it just does not go as it should – and that’s that. I’m not lucky enough now. I feel myself OK, I’m fit, I’m confident. Even tonight I’ve had enough opportunities – but then the puck jumps up. All of us realized that we should do the best we could. I don’t think our guys should be reproached after this game. We have all been fighting.»

«Now we have to go out and take some other medals at least,» said Ovechkin as quoted by Sport-Express.
