Swiss named 2014 Olympics sports director

Werner Augsburger has been appointed sports director of 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.

52-year-old Swiss has been working as chief executive of the Switzerland’s hockey league for two years. According to AP, Augsburger said in a statement that it was «a great honour» for the Sochi organising committee to have shown such confidence in him. He will enter upon his duties in Russia in September.

Augsburger has also been the Swiss team’s head of mission at three Olympic Games in Athens, Turin, and Beijing.
