Sergei Mikhalyov may become Salavat Yulaev head coach
Sergei Mikhalyov will again become the head coach of the KHL’s Salavat Yulaev, according to a report by AllHockey.Ru referring to an anonymous source within the club.
Currently, the 64-year-old coach is in Bratislava at the 2011 World Championship and refuses to give any comments on this information.
Salavat Yulaev press service also refrained from any comments. «Any information on the appointment of the team’s head coach will be published on the club’s official website immediately after it arrives,» stated the head of Salavat Yulaev press office Vadim Aminov.
Mikhalyov used be in charge of the Ufa team, bringing them to their first champions title in the club’s history in 2008. After the failure in the first round of the 2009 play-offs, Mikhalyov was dismissed and replaced by Vyacheslav Bykov, under whom Salavat became the holder of the Gagarin Cup this season.
During the last season Mikhalyov held the post of sports director at the VHL club Lada Togliatti.
