Luciano Spalletti: Zenit should buy two or three top players, otherwise I’ll have to leave

Zenit St. Petersburg head coach Luciano Spalletti told about his possible resignation from the Russian club in case its squad isn’t strengthened properly.

«Now I need a vacation. I miss Italy, I miss mu home. At this stage we have fulfilled one hundred percent of our goals: we’re first in the Russian Premier League and we’ve reached the Champions League playoffs. I like it in Zenit and I would love to stay here, but to progress we need at least two or three top players. We have to go forward, otherwise I’ll have to leave the team.»

«Is Zenit investing huge amounts of money in football? It’s nothing but a myth. Do you know that I myself have found nine players of our current starting eleven? Among our new signings there are no superstars for €50 million. And even with these investments, we won the Russian league and became one of the best teams in Eastern Europe.
