Spartak Moscow have opened negotiations with one of the leading players of Belgian club Standard Liege, Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez. This information has become available to Sports.ru reporter Denis Bystrov from a reliable source within the management of the Moscow-based club. The meeting of a Spartak representative with the player’s agent took place on Friday.
In a month Carcela-Gonzalez will be 22 years old. He is a skilled left-footed halfback able to play in any position, but preferring left flank. His height is 176 cm. Carcela-Gonzalez holds dual citizenship of Belgium and Morocco. Transfermarkt.de estimates his price to be €4 million.
During the past season Carcela-Gonzalez became the leader of Standard, having scored 13 goals and making 5 assists in 38 matches.
