Aiden McGeady: Ireland have 70 percent chance to qualify to Euro-2012
Spartak Moscow and Ireland national team winger Aiden McGeady has spoken about what surprised him the most in the qualifying group to Euro-2012 and has rated the chances of his team to make it to the tournament in Poland and Ukraine.
«The most surprising thing for me are Armenia’s results. We played them in the first round and managed to scrap a narrow 1:0 win. When we came back home, everybody reproached us: «What kind of a result is that?!» Everybody thought we should have scored four or five goals in Yerevan. But the time has shown that the Armenia national team is a very serious opponent, and the game Russia played in Yerevan game one more evidence of that.»
«How would you rate the chances of your national team to make it to Euro-2012?»
«Seventy percent. Why not one hundred? Thereby we pay homage to the Russian team.»
«Which of the remaining matches is the most important for Ireland?»
«Perhaps, the one against Slovakia or, maybe, against Russia. In general any match can turn out to be the most difficult. What if we now lose to Macedonia? Then you’d be able to say about this game that it was the most difficult,» stated McGeady according to Sovetsky Sport.
