Derek Chisora could return to boxing with a Russian licence

British heavyweight boxer Derek Chisora, whose fighting licence was revoked after a brawl with another Brit, David Haye, in Germany last month, could box under a Russian licence, RIA Novosti claims.

Asked if he could fight under a Russian boxing license, the British fighter stated «if they’ll give me one.»

Chisora has been spending time in Moscow recently, allegedly arriving to watch WBA interim cruiserweight fight between Denis Lebedev and challenger Shawn Cox, and speculations indicate he may use this time to apply for a Russian licence.

The general secretary of the Russian Professional Boxing Federation Igor Mazurov, meanwhile, confirmed that the body is within its rights to issue licenses to whomever it likes, regardless of citizenship.
