KHL disciplinary board gives verdict on three Canadian players
The disciplinary board of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) has decided to ban three Canadian players from Vityaz Chekhov for a number of games following the series of fights that occurred in the game against Ak Bars Kazan.
Following the meeting of KHL’s disciplinary committee, it was decided that Kip Brennan will miss the next five games, while his teammates Nick Tarnasky and Jon Mirasty will be banned for four and two matches respectively.
Having reviewed the incidents, the committee also decided to lift the five-minute penalty given to Artem Lukoyanov of Ak Bars, but the penalties to Andrey Posnov, Grigory Panin, and Stepan Zakharchuk remain in place.
The brawls, in which Mirasty took on Lukoyanov, Tarnasky fought Zaharchuk and Posnov went up against Panin, all took place during the second period of Thursday’s KHL match.
