Christopher Samba: Pitch surface in Kazan was the worst I’ve ever played on
Anzhi Makhachkala defender Christopher Samba commented on his team’s 1-0 defeat to Rubin, claiming that the conditions in Kazan were below par.
«I doubt that the audience enjoyed the match. I don’t know how it looked on the TV screen, but the team’s couldn’t play entertaining football because of the surface.»
«Was the pitch that bad?»
«I reckon it was the worst I’ve seen in my career. You can’t play football on a surface with no grass. I am not making excuses, the conditions were the same for both sides, but we didn’t adapt as well as our opponents.»
«Do you think this game will help you adapt in the Russian Premier League?»
«I hope that the pitch quality was an exception, rather than the rule. But I do need to get used to the bad weather conditions,» the former Blackburn defender told Sport-Express.
