Valery Karpin: The derby against CSKA is different from other games
Spartak Moscow boss Valery Karpin commented on his team’s upcoming derby match with local rivals CSKA Moscow, who were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid last night.
«What are your impressions about the CSKA match last night?»
«What can you say, Madrid was simply better.»
«What did you think about the Russians’ performance? Will they be playing in a similar manner against you?»
«You have to understand that CSKA only played as well as Madrid let them play. If Spartak plays like Real, then the opponents will have to back to last night’s tactics.»
«Will the surface quality make any difference?»
«I doubt it. In Makhachkala the pitch was perfect, you can’t find a better surface anywhere.»
«Do you have a special kind of motivation for this fixture?»
«Every match is important to us at the moment, but the CSKA derby is always special. It shouldn’t matter what kind of shape the team is in right now,» Karpin told Sport-Express.
