Five Russian athletes banned in doping scandal

Five Russian athletes have been disqualified from all competitions by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) for using banned substances.

The most prominent of the banned quintet is runner Anna Gurova, who tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance during last year’s tournament in the Russian town of Cheboksary.

The other four sportsmen – Artur Bigaev, Irina Klimenicheva, Igor Urusov, and Veronika Ilyina – are not members of the Russian national team, Russian newspaper Sovetsky sport reported.
