There is not enough points given for a victory. Two 11th place finishes should not be as valuable as a win! I’d say the points system should look something like this: 1st: 80p 2nd: 65p 3rd: 53p 4th: 43p 5th: 40p ...and normal scale from there on.
Wolfgang Pichler is a miracle worker! Sweden has EXTREMELY few biathletes and they are all failed cross country skiers. Helena Ekholm used to finish last in every cross country race she entered. Björn Ferry was a terrible skier in the skate technique according to world champion Per Elofsson who is amazed that Ferry has made it this far. When Anna-Carin Zidek first started biathlon as a 29-year old, experienced cross country skier from one of the most prominent nations in cross country skiing, she would typically lose about 1 minute in 7.5 km. But after training under Pichler, she became the best skier in the sport for a few years before Neuner arrived, at which point she was still the second best skier and close to Neuner. So what Pichler has done with such talentless skiers is quite remarkable.
Ekholm is excellent, but the other swedes? Not so much... The problem is that every talented skiewr in Sweden wants to be a cross country skier rather than a biathlete. So all swedish biathletes are failed cross country skiers.
