Alexander Medvedev: Lev will definitely play in KHL next season, Slovan and Milan will join a year later
The head of the KHL Alexander Medvedev has confirmed the participation of the Slovak club Lev Poprad in the Russian-centered league starting with 2011-12 season. He has also revealed that in 2012-13 season the KHL will be expanded to include Slovakia’s Slovan and Italy’s Milan, and later maybe even Ukraine’s HC Donbass.
«Speaking about the Champions League, it’s of no interest to us. We are expanding the KHL. Lev will play there 100 percent, Slovan and Milan will join us in a season,» Medvedev stated according to Sports Daily.
Now I am going to Donetsk. The Ukrainians have decided that the club which had taken their domestic title shall also compete in the KHL. However, next year they will try themselves in the VHL [Russian second tier – Sports.ru] or the MHL [KHL’s youth tournament – Sports.ru].»
