One more Kazakhstani club can join KHL next season
The KHL may admit one more club from Kazakhstan starting next season. According to Sports.kz, Sary-Arka based in the city of Karaganda can become the nation’s second representative after Barys Astana.
The head of Karaganda oblast Serik Akhmetov initiated the team’s application procedure for the KHL today by signing the relevant documents.
Sary-Arka are currently third in the national championship of Kazakhstan with 57 points after 26 matches. Their head coach is Ramil Saifullin, who won the Russian league in 2004 as a player of Avangard Omsk. The club was established in 2006 and plays its home games at the 2,500-seater Akzholtay Sports Palace.
