Ilya Bryzgalov will leave Phoenix Coyotes
The Phoenix Coyotes and Russian national team goalkeeper Ilya Bryzgalov will leave the club before the opening of the free agents’ market on July 1, reported the CBC.
The Coyotes cannot offer the Russian goalkeeper the salary he would be satisfied with, due to the suspended situation with the club’s owner and the budget, which doesn’t reach the salary cap. The club will try to sell Bryzgalov before July 1 to get any compensation at least. The Russian’s salary was $4.25 million per season.
Bryzgalov won 36 of 68 matches of the NHL regular season with a goals against rate of 2.48 goals per game and save percentage of 0.921. In the play-offs he was defeated four times in four games, missing 4.36 goals per game and saving 87.9 percent of shots.
