Today, at a specially convened press conference in Bratislava, it has been officially announced that the Slovak hockey club Lev Poprad became a member of the KHL, as reported by Sport-Express.
Radim Rulik, known for his work at Avangard Omsk as Ivan Hlinka’s assistant, has been appointed the team’s head coach.
«The Slovak newcomers will play next season in the Western Conference of the KHL in the same division with Spartak Moscow, CSKA Moscow, SKA St. Petersburg, Dynamo Moscow, and Dinamo Riga», stated the head of the KHL Alexander Medvedev.
«The budget of our club will be comparable to the figures that Dinamo Riga have. Seventy to eighty percent of the squad will be made up of Slovak players, while the rest of the places will probably be taken by foreigners. Our performances in the KHL will be sponsored by several Czech and Slovak companies, including those engaged in car manufacturing, oil and gas», revealed Lev’s general manager Roman Slavchev.
