KHL to consider if Vityaz should remain in the league after multiple mass fights
Gennady Velichkin, chairman of the KHL Disciplinary Committee, said the authority asked the KHL Board of Directors and the KHL Board of Club Owners to consider if Vityaz Chekhov should remain in the league or be excluded, according to league’s official website.
Vityaz, who have the biggest number of ‘tough guys’ in their squad and who largely rely on their bullying of opponents, were involved in mass fights on numerous occasions, the most recent being the one against Traktor Chelyabinsk on Saturday (1:5).
The mass fight involved all the players who were on ice at the moment, including the goaltenders. After the fight Vityaz’s Kip Brennan was suspended by the Disciplinary Committee for 12 games and his teammate Jeremy Yablonski – for 8 games.
