.by Augusta River Hawks Hockey on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 11:42am.The Augusta RiverHawks Hockey Club announced today the signings of Nick Bydal, Andrew Willock, Kirill Doronin and Tom Craig for the 2010-2011 season.
Bydal, a native of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, played four seasons of NCAA hockey with the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. The 6’2, 203 pound defenseman began his professional hockey career in 2009 and spent some time with the Fayetteville FireAntz and the Louisiana IceGators.
“Nick played in the SPHL last year, so he has knowledge of how the league works,” said Head Coach, Brad Ralph. “He is a big, strong defenseman and we are looking to him to add an element of toughness to the team.”
Willock, a forward, began his hockey career with the Mississauga Chargers, a team in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League. Soon after, he began playing at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, where he spent four seasons.
“Andrew is a gritty player and he is willing to stand up for his teammates,” said Ralph. “He is an offensive talent, and we are excited to see what he will bring to the team.”
Doronin, a Khabarovsk, Russia native, has North American hockey experience as a former member of the Central Texas Marshals, a team in the NAHL.
“Kirill is a mobile defenseman and he plays with a lot of intensity,” said Ralph. “He was a high draft pick in the Russian league.”
