Pavel Pogrebnyak: I wish I started scoring goals again to pay our coach for his trust
Stuttgart forward Pavel Pogrebnyak has shared his opinion on the performances of his club’s and himself this season.
«Our most basic task for the season is always the same – to secure a place in the European cups. Stuttgart is a big club in Germany and we can’t aim lower than that. Unfortunately, a bad start has cancelled all of our hopes to fulfill that task. What’s the reason? If we knew, we wouldn’t be there now. If you don’t want to get into situations like that you have to work hard. There’s no other way in the Bundesliga.»
«However, for me personally the beginning of the season was very good – I scored five goals in four games. But we have lost a lot of points, and the coach was sacked, replaced with Jens Keller, and in two months with Bruno Labbadia. It’s very hard to adapt to an ongoing coaches’ reshuffle, that’s why we ended up so low in the league.»
«Our new coach has faith in me. The only thing that bothers me is that I have to pay for that trust with my goals, but I still haven’t scored one. Of course, it’s a pleasure to play for your team and help it get the results, but a forward must score. I wish I started doing it regularly like I did before», Pogrebnyak told to Eurosport.
