Dynamo coach: I had a tough private conversation with Kuranyi
Dynamo Moscow head coach Sergey Silkin commented on German striker Kevin Kuranyi’s reaction to being relegated to the bench for the match against CSKA Moscow.
«How did Kuranyi react when he found out he was being dropped for the first time?»
«We had a chat with him, not for the public’s ears. I intimated that he shouldn’t look for the problems in me, but in himself. I told him that myself and the team want him to play, as he is a key member of our squad. He is a true professional, so I think we understood each other.»
«Were you pleased with his second half performance?»
«Of course, he was a lot livelier. We couldn’t use Kokorin’s pace as the opponent left very little space to run into, but Kuranyi came on and gave us a boost.»
«Are you hopeful he will continue to improve?»
«Yes. The main thing is that he kept fighting and didn’t avoid any challenges.»
«People always said that, being a German, he is a real professional, so why did he suddenly start «demanding less of himself?»
«I guess when someone lives in our country long enough, he becomes a little bit Russian himself. Not just the Germans, but other foreigners too,» Silkin told Sport-Express.
