CSKA president: We wanted three Brazilian players, but it didn’t work out
CSKA president Yevgeny Giner, quoted by Bobsoccer.ru, explained why Keisuke Honda’s move to Lazio collapsed and revealed the club has not given up on the Brazilian transfer marker.
«It is true that for the first time in years we have no Brazilians left in the side. But it is really just a coincidence, we are always scouting the Brazilian market. Just this winter we wanted to bring in three Brazilian players, but it didn’t work out,» Giner claimed.
«As for Honda, the offer from Lazio was simply unacceptable. It is as if they were doing us a favour by proposing to sign the Japanese international for such a ridiculous fee. Honda knows that clubs that really want him will be able to follow his progress in the Russian League just as easily as in Seria A. Was the midfielder disappointed? He couldn’t have been, as we have been keeping him updated and he understood our reaction to the Italian outfit’s offer,» the Red Army president added.
